How an Authorised Lost Bag Collection Works at Istanbul Airport

Published · By Ana Kurye

A located bag still needs a permitted handover. Matthieu C's case illustrates the distinction between arranging an authorised airport collection and preparing an international shipment afterwards.

Start with the office holding the item

Matthieu was already communicating with the airport about his forgotten bag. That contact provided the starting point for the collection arrangements; this was a recovery case involving the responsible Lost & Found office.

Anyone arranging a similar collection should follow the instructions of the office actually holding the item. The documents and communication channel can differ depending on that office and the circumstances.

Prepare authorisation before the handover

In this case, Matthieu arranged submission of the required identification and authorisation materials through the appropriate channel. Ana Kurye was included in the correspondence to support the collection arrangements.

The paperwork supported the request for a representative to collect the bag. Personal documents and private correspondence are not reproduced here; the public account focuses on the collection process.

Treat shipping as a separate preparation stage

Airport collection and carrier acceptance are separate steps. For Matthieu, DHL and FedEx options were reviewed, the bag's contents received attention for possible shipping restrictions, and information about insurance was discussed.

For a new request, international shipping depends on the contents, destination, customs requirements and carrier acceptance policies. Authorisation to collect an item from an airport does not by itself confirm that every item can be shipped.

Keep a remote customer informed

Progress information and photographs helped Matthieu follow the case without being present for the collection. His public Google review highlights professional handling, transparency and constant communication.

The review below is the customer's own account of the recovery and dispatch. It is not a promise that another airport case will follow the same timetable.
