IGA Lost & Found Suitcase Collection – Authorized Pickup and Hotel Delivery in Istanbul

For a passenger receiving an IGA found-item notification, locating the bag is only the first stage. Montha Koseni's red suitcase case shows how release paperwork, airport collection and the final delivery destination can be handled separately.

A GMK record for belongings already found

On 4 October 2026, Ana Kurye received a request concerning a small red suitcase held by IGA Istanbul Airport Lost & Found. The approximately 10 kg bag contained clothes and shoes belonging to the traveller's mother and younger brother. It was a confirmed found-property collection, not an airline search for baggage that had failed to arrive.

The case had a GMK reference, retained privately for verification. A reference helps the office identify its record; it is not, on its own, permission for any courier to take the item.

Completed authorization before the airport visit

The owner prepared authorization paperwork on 6–7 October. IGA confirmed that the documents were complete and that release could proceed with the customs officer's approval. Ana Kurye attended the airport and collected the suitcase on 9 October.

For a similar request, confirm the office's current authorization form, passport or ID-copy requirements and the details of the named collector. Where a power of attorney is requested, ask whether a particular language, original document or notarial or consular form is required. This case confirms completed authorization; it does not establish that a notarized or consular power of attorney was used.

Ana Kurye is not IGA's official representative. The owner authorizes collection, and the airport office decides whether the documents and proposed release are acceptable.

Collection did not commit the owner to overseas shipping

Israel was initially discussed as the destination and Jordan was considered later. DHL, FedEx and other options were reviewed. When an international quotation was more than the customer wished to spend, the delivery arrangement remained open.

The red suitcase had been recovered locally, but no shipment to either country took place. The owner subsequently considered travelling to Istanbul and chose a hotel delivery instead. Airport release and international carrier acceptance should always be treated as separate decisions.

From the collection stage to an Istanbul hotel

On 12 October, the customer requested Darkhill Hotel as the delivery destination. On 15 October, weather-related restrictions affecting motorcycle courier operations complicated the local arrangements. The customer's planned departure the next day made the timing important, and hotel delivery was organized for 15 October.

The documented outcome is receipt of the suitcase by the customer in Istanbul. The motorcycle photographs record handling and preparation; they do not establish the transport mode used for the final delivery during the restrictions.

What a found-item email recipient can take from this case

Keep the holding-office reply and reference together, complete the requested authorization and obtain release confirmation before arranging attendance. Then agree the actual destination. If your travel plans change, tell the coordinator before a shipment is booked.

The images below continue the handling sequence. A suitcase photograph beside a Beso Roof Top display is included as supplied, without treating the sign as proof of Darkhill Hotel's identity. No private authorization papers, passport images or complete reference number are displayed.

The passenger's feedback after receiving her suitcase

Montha's public Google review describes her satisfaction with the support and recovery. It is presented as her own account, rather than a promise about release approval or delivery times for another passenger.
